A Life Cut Short, 7th and D St SE, May 3rd

I come out of the library yesterday and come upon a pudgy, office worker type ripping a small tree out of the ground. He tosses it on the ground and remarks to his companion"..it could have fell on my car."
"No it wouldn't have. It wasn't even  3 feet high", I reply. Dude is startled at my sudden appearance and challenge to his action.
"Excuse me?"
"You work for the park service or something?" He was wearing a button down, so I had already figured he didn't.
"NO. I don't. The tree was dead and about to fall so.."
"You a tree doctor??"
"Yeah"

"No you ain't. And that tree looked young and healthy 'til you pulled it." I laughed. I let it go and walked away, oblivious to Pudgy and his lame excuses .
